Buck Rogers in the 25th Century is released to theatres on March 30, 1979. Originally intended to be a television pilot for a series, the
producers felt they would cash in on success of the recent Star Wars film. After a very successful run, the motion picture was altered slightly and premiered on September 20, 1979 on NBC. Its weekly slot became Thursday nights at 8:00pm, and ran for only two seasons.
